In general, a software development project comprises the
following phases:
 Initiation
It is the period when the project starts and
pre-analysis is done. This takes about 5-10% of the total project time.
Design
Detailed system analysis, planning, infrastructure
and architecture design. This process takes about 20 - 30% of the total project
time..
Development
This phase which is the part that takes
a lot of time is where most of the coding and testing is done.of the project takes
most of the time. It takes about 50-70% of the total project time.
Implementation
Delivering the project, installing it
to the customer's network and training the users. This takes about 5-10% of the
total project time.
The four phases stated above are the basic parts of any
project. In addition,extra testing time, detailed Technical Specification Document,
Users Manual are also provided depening on the project, its level of difficulty
and customers' budget.
